With the upcoming storm, please take extra time to prepare yourself, your families and your pets. They are forecasting a significant coastal storm event, beginning from last night and lasting until Friday. Strong to damaging winds and moderate coastal flooding are forecasted, power outages may occur due to the predicted weather.
*Ensure your animals have plenty of water available to them at all times.
*Temperature does not matter for this one, however, especially with the impending temperatures NEVER leave your animals in vehicles for any length of time.
*Keep tags affixed to your pets collars at all times to ensure they can be reunited with you ASAP if they run away from home.

MA GENERAL LAWS CHAPTER 140 SECTION 174E:
d) A person shall not leave a dog outside when a weather advisory, warning or watch is issued by a local, state, or federal authority or when outside environmental conditions including, but not limited to, extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow or hail pose an adverse risk to the health or safety of the dog based on the dog’s breed, age or physical condition, unless the tethering is not for more than 15 minutes.
DO NOT leave your pets outside. Violators of this law will be issued citations in accordance with MGL Chapter 140 Section 174E.
MA GENERAL LAWS CHAPTER 140 SECTION 174F:
(a) A person shall not confine an animal in a motor vehicle in a manner that could reasonably be expected to threaten the health of the animal due to exposure to extreme heat or cold. PLEASE REPORT TO AN ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER OR POLICE OFFICER IF A VIOLATION IS NOTICED. Violators of this law will be issued citations in accordance with MGL Chapter 140 Section 174F.
*IF AN ANIMAL IS TO SUFFER INJURY OR DEATH AS A RESULT OF BEING LEFT UNATTENDED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE OR BEING TETHERED IT COULD RESULT IN THE OWNER OR KEEPER OF THE ANIMAL BEING CHARGED WITH MGL CHAPTER 272 SECTION 77: CRUELTY TO ANIMALS!
