Luna

Meet Luna!! She is an approximately 9 month old pointer mix. She has been through so much in her short life, but that pain is behind her and she is ready for a new forever family!! Here is what her southern foster says:

“Luna came to us as just a young puppy after her previous owners left her chained to a crate in the hot South Carolina summer heat. Upon rescue , it became clear Luna was hurt as she wasn’t using both front legs to walk or play. Initially the vet suspected an old injury and recommended crate rest and medication to relieve the pain she was in. Luna’s situation didn’t improve so we sought the medical opinion of an Orthopedic Veterinarian who did more x-rays with the unfortunate finding that there had; indeed, been an old injury that had not been treated and her leg was not growing at the same rate as the other. Luna was in immense pain and on a strict medication regime.

After consulting the vet, the rescue team made the difficult decision that amputation would be best and provide her the best chance at a happy, pain free, forever!

Luna has been in a foster family with six other kids, puppies, and has even been around a kitten with no issue! She loves the kids (ages 2-12), has become great friends with the resident puppy (who happens to be much larger than her) and has shown no signs of ill intent toward the kitty. Luna hasn’t let her pain, recovery, or new life as a “tri-pawd” slow her down one bit! She’s energetic and will run and play with the best of them. Left in a crate Luna does well and is mess free. Luna is vocal while playing, loves a good squeaky toy, and enjoys a good nighttime cuddle. Luna knows how to sit, is still working on not jumping when greeting, and will let you know when she needs to go outside with a soft bark.”
