Sophie

Meet Sophie!!

Sophie is currently just under 26 pounds, spayed and 24 weeks old.

Sophie came to us after being posted on Facebook, along with her littermates as “free to good home” as a tiny tot. Even in the post, the fleas crawling across the pups could be seen. During the wait for a foster home to become available, some puppies were rehomed and others had ran off due to improper care and confinement. Those puppies were never found. The young lady that tried to care for the puppies allowed the rescue to step in and save the remaining three and have the mom spayed.

Upon intake, it was clear the puppies were lacking in proper nutrition; and of course, any due medical care. They were thin, covered in fleas and loaded with parasites. Straight to the vet they went. Sophie was worse off than her sisters and was half their size, but after round-the-clock care, she bounced back; while so gentle, it was clear Sophie was a fighter! Sophie was placed in a foster home with six young kids and various other canine playmates; both big and small! She has done great with all the kids and dogs of various sizes and ages.

As Sophie geared up to head to her forever home up north, she sustained a minor hairline fracture which resulted in strict rest and confinement. Sophie has healed well and is now happy to run with the best of them; and boy does she love to run!!

Sophie is a sweet girl that loves to give kisses and loves attention from anyone that will give it! She’s working hard to sit patiently and not jump upon greeting people…it’s hard to keep a good girl down, especially one that’s had such a rough beginning.

Full of life and joy, Sophie is over all quiet and gentle and loves to run and do zoomies with her giant 90 pound foster “brother” or play “wrestle and pinned ya” with the smaller foster friends. While playful, she has been gentle with smaller pups. Sophie does well alone overnight or during the day in a safe space (strong puppy pen, we prefer that over crating) when necessary and is working on keeping her space tidy, she does great when taken out regularly. Sophie is perfect for vet visits, rides well/quietly in the car crated and leash walks nicely.

This sweet, cuddly, happy gal is not dominant by any means. She has a kind and gentle soul and will make someone very happy. She would love a dog friend and a fenced yard to run to her little heart’s content.
